Saugatuck has a casual, come-as-you-are downtown where most restaurants do not accept reservations. During peak season, get to these eateries early!
THE MERMAID BAR & GRILL
For unrivaled waterfront seating (and a close-up view of the A-Frame Saugatuck), try this dockside eatery. The Mermaid Bar & Grill serves fresh fish and local favorites, and offer an extensive cocktail menu. When you’re on the way, take advantage of their waitlist option via the website. You can window shop while you wait.
THE BUTLER
While this restaurant has been a Saugatuck staple for more than 60 years, their two-story, open-air patio is brand new, beautiful, and seats 250 people! The Butler is the perfect place to unwind, enjoy live music, and bite into the famous Butler Burger.
WILD DOG GRILLE
If you find yourself strolling through the art galleries of downtown Douglas, then don’t pass up the opportunity to dine at Wild Dog Grille. Their newly-designed menu includes a unique happy hour menu, small plates, and build-your-own pizzas, alongside a more robust dinner menu.
WICK’S PARK BAR & GRILLE
The perfect place for people-watching, Wick’s Park Bar and Grille has plenty of outdoor seating and is located directly across the street from Kalamazoo Lake and Wick’s Park. It’s a quick hop on the Chain Ferry from the Lakewood Lux Treetops and A-Frame, so you can leave your car (and your worries) behind.
PHIL’S BAR & GRILLE
You can’t miss the huge marquee in front of Phil’s Bar and Grille announcing local’s birthdays and 50th wedding anniversaries. Like the sign, this place is casual and fun, and the lake perch and mushroom fries are not to be missed.
SAUGATUCK BREWING COMPANY
Known for their socially responsible, community-centric craft brewing practices, the Saugatuck Brewing Co. has become quite the lively neighborhood hangout. It’s impressive food menu is almost as adventurous as their constantly-updating beer menu. Stay for live music, or take a growler to go and enjoy it fireside at one of the Lakewood Lux properties.
